Chinese American Professional Society was founded in 1979 in Southern California. There are two purposes for the organization: first, to enhance academic cooperation and contact among Chinese-American and second, to provide analysis service and opinions in fields of social humanities, science, enginering, and business administration. Currently, there are about 400 members mainly from Southern California and from neighbor states. Many of them are professors, doctors, lawyers, accountants, bankers, and engineers.

Since the establishment, Chinese American Professional Society has been holding lots of academic discussions, panel discussions, and annual conferences. We have invited experts and professionals either from Taiwan or the States to study and discuss hot issues. We also have recommended lots of outstanding peofessionals and experts in the States to go back to Taiwan either to address their knowledge in schools or to contribute their expertise in the development of various industries. Our first academic discussion conference was held in Los Angeles, in June, 1984. More than 1,300 experts from all over the world participated in the event. The conference was so successful that we decided to hold such an event every three years.
