ASIA PACIFIC INSTITUTE

Program manager for USC's Asia Pacific Institute needed!

Job Description:

ASIA PACIFIC INSTITUTE has been awarded a 2 year contract by the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) of Taiwan. the contract consists of 2 parts. Part A (planning), funded at $300K, produces an operating plan for API, due on 5/1/96. Part B (INTRO) is funded in two $500K increments which expire on 6/30/97, respectively. The funding for the second requires successful performance in the first increment. The program has been underway since 8/1/95 on PCA funding prior to contract award in 11/95. The contract has deliverables and milestones which must be satisfied.

API provides services which facilitate technology transfer, education and research which meet the needs of Taiwan's government and leading edge industries, with specific initial emphasis on multi-media, manufacturing and aviation/aerospace/transportation. The consequence of this will be contracts between interested parties, including USC, which will subject to separate negotiations. Eventual funding for API will be provided in the form of long term support (base funding) from Taiwan's industry and specific contracts from clients, that is users of API's capabilities. The 5/1/96 plan produced under Planning will initiate base funds, and INTRO is the means by which TTRI has become API's first client.

Now the API contract has been awarded, a full time program manager is needed. Applicants are being sought who have demonstrated complex program management experience, are knowledge about the above mentioned technologies, and have a desire to enjoy the environment that USC - a major research university - can provide. Those interested should phone Dr. Stephen Lu, Executive director, at 213-740-6667 for an interview.
